Peace and Goodwill

Peace and Goodwill

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:13-14 Once there was enmity between God and man. Sin came early on in the story of mankind, and because of it, God was separated from His most beloved creation. Man was destined to live in a tragic condition: lost in darkness, tormented, mistreated, used and abused by an insidious slave owner. God’s grand plan seemed eternally ruined. The Messenger

The Messenger

The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Isaiah 40:3 How can one be saved unless there is a messenger? How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:15 The message of salvation is the most important message of all time, but even it requires that there be a messenger. Before Jesus, the road to salvation was crooked. It was an impossible path of holiness and righteousness, and nobody could follow its requirements. God's plan of salvation began with a messenger proclaiming the nearness of man's deliverance. John the Baptist was that messenger. The message of salvation required action on the part of the people. They had to prepare. The messenger helped them be ready to receive. He told them to repent....
