Evidence of God’s Mercy

In the quiet and secret place, I’ve been crying out to God for our nation but invariably my prayers turn toward the Body of Christ. Will change come to our nation unless the Body of Christ repents for her love affair with the world? My heart’s cry is that she would wake up and turn from her passionate pursuit of the things of the world and instead passionately pursue the Lover of her soul, her first love, Jesus. The word says, judgment begins in the house of God (1 Peter 4:17) and that love of the world is enmity to God (James 4:4). How can those who call themselves God’s own be so carnally minded? We must turn our hearts back to our Lover, back to the One who’s image we bear. Repentance is evidence of Gods mercy. We need a whole lot of mercy to be poured out on this nation and God’s people must lead the way. Repent today. Turn away...

The Homestead Has Gone Grain Free – Well, Mostly

A huge lifestyle change has taken place here on The Homestead. We’ve gone all caveman around here with our new way of eating. Yes, Paleo has entered our lives and has changed everything regarding food. If you didn’t realize it, practically our whole life revolves around food. I didn’t realize it before, but now I do. It seems like some days all I do is think about food or prepare food or clean up from food. Eating real food requires real time to prepare, not only to plan but to actually cook. I’m thankful for a little saying I saw on someone’s website one day, it went something like this, “It’s only effort until it becomes routine.” Well, I sure am hoping that’s true! And, you know what? It really is. I see it...

Burning Up With Fever

Yep. I’ve got it and I’ve got it bad. Thank God it’s not the flu but its effect on me is just as gripping – I’ve come down with Spring fever. I can’t concentrate to save my life, unless it’s something taking place outside. Every time I look out my window, there is something fascinating to watch. Blue birds trying to decide which house to buy (boy, are they a tough sell), the first spotting of a male painted bunting at the feeder, Indian blankets covering the field and waving at me in the wind, beckoning me to feast in their splendor, woodpeckers hanging on the wire feeder picking out nuts, swooping swallows, scissor tails enchanting me with their amazing tails, thieving squirrels, trespassing skunks, and the list goes on and on. Here on the Homestead, Spring is in full bloom and blossom. Life is bursting at the seams reminding me of the glory and beauty of God. I am literally engorging...
